I wish sega would just hit up konami and others for the arcades in kamurocho and elsewhere for future like a dragon games because fantasy zone is the most dogshit shmup I've ever fucking played, do NOT let me go backwards, do you know how much it fucking SUCKS to go backwards in a shmup, I hate going backwards, I hate that the screen just fucking moves because my muscle memory from literally every other shmup kicks in to dodge enemies in front of me by going back a little sometimes, fuck fantasy zone!!!
While I still think sega should include arcade titles from other publishers I’ve come around on fantasy zone.
I picked up fantasy zone II tonight and it’s actually a lot of fun if you let yourself get used to the weird free scroll mechanic for a horizontal stg, it’s also incredibly difficult for me though so far.
I defeated the first boss after a few attempts and have yet to clear the second stage or even see what that boss looks like, mainly because I barely defeated the first boss by the skin of my teeth and have to clear the first boss again and so forth to reach the next stage again after a game over.
I’m honestly not sure why this game keeps track of credits because it doesn’t seem to have a continue, which is fine, it makes me want to keep playing it to get better at it and see all the stages and bosses lol.
I really like the art and music too, the enemy designs are fun and the vibrant colors are neat to look at.
anyway checkout fantasy zone if you haven’t played it, you can play it in many like a dragon titles at the arcades or on something like final burn neo
