Every time someone tries to talk to me about final fantasy my eyes glaze over and I imagine I’m playing dragon quest instead

Have yet to play a Final Fantasy game that's well balanced. They all have end game bosses that expect the players to have mastered a system they managed well without, completed optional content, farmed out something, but crucially not experience. I loved X up until the last third or so when it stared to became balanced as if the player had been doing the monster capturing quest.
Something like Nocturne at least has the decency to curb stomp the player early on.
Yeah I made a post about it but basically I tried playing final fantasy VI on super famicom the other day and was turned off by the combat specifically, the art is very nice but the slow ass animations and arbitrary damage numbers (115 damage? Is that supposed to mean something to me?) made me stop playing immediately
