Even growing up in the high desert of southern California I never quite got used to seeing the penguins, because we were juuuust barely at the edge of their range. So it was always a little magical. Dad pulling the car over very carefully so we could watch them march across the highway for fifteen or twenty minutes, all of us spellbound, silent.
