Me (at night (2 AM (in bed (awake)))): The borehole the geologist dug in action hero Vin Diesel vehicle Pitch Black (2000) should have been flooded with water. It was all of 200 meters away from their well.
Me (3AM now (still awake)): And didn't they say the planet — the desert planet — was covered in evaporites? And it had three suns? It must have been an ocean planet at one point, only the heavy solar wind gradually depleted the water vapor in the atmosphere, which would have been replenished by evaporated surface water, which would ultimately have depleted the oceans. That's why all the planetary life lives underground. It's not that the ravenous cave monsters ate everyone, it's that anything on the surface dehydrated.
Me (4AM): So really, instead of having giant quadruped skeletons, it should have had whale skeletons.
Me (other me): There shouldn't have been any skeletons at all. The bones would have completely decayed ages ago.
Me (first me again): Movies don't have to be realistic.
