Optimistically nihilistic. Likes jetpacks. Flying solo for now, but a co-pilot would be nice.

Long live Bionicle.

TIL that a friend/colleague of mine in the same company I work for was apparently doxxed by a YouTube channel for being a gay game developer over a decade ago. Said YouTuber also encouraged their viewers to send death threats to the game dev. Shit like that is why I have such a burning hatred for the gaming community a lot of the time. And why I get a rush of Schadenfreude whenever game companies add Pride stuff to their favorite games.

I know not everyone in that wretched community is like this. I know there's a solid contingent that are either LGBTQ+ or at least more accepting. But given how many of the gaming community is openly transphobic reminds me that the more things change, the more things stay the same. :/

in reply to @Zalno's post:

Gaming is coming down slowly from being hyper masculine after capitalism abandoned marketing games to girls in the early 80s and told boys and their parents that games are for boys. Then some sad people made that marketing decision their entire identity and defended it, a decision made by people who take their money to become richer than they can become themselves.

That makes up a good chunk of people involved in gaming discourse. It used to be the ENTIRE market.

And it still subsists as a latent, de facto reality in the minds of the madden-a-year game buyers who haven't really thought about games since they last logged into their gamefaqs account. That's the woodwork from out which a large number of people will crawl to casually support classically bad takes by the more actively misinformed.
