Lancer RPG tip:
If your game's portrayal of Union won't allow you (the DM) to let your player's Lancers shit-talk it without a vicious and immediate need to nuh-uh correct it, and you won't let your players do something that "Union wouldn't approve of" (such as, in this case, rescuing a marginalized group of time-frozen refugees before their oppressors, in order to break the cycle of violence before it can immediately reinstate, as would probably happen if everyone were time-unfrozen at once) then that's probably why your players think Union sucks because let me tell you, as someone in a game where our lancers looked our Union liaison in the eye and said "obviously this was an act of insubordinate lancers, but they're mercenaries, what can ya do", that friction is the point

and then do what your lancers think is ethically right and the game is gonna be so much richer for it
