Here's a proposition: currently on RP sites, almost everybody uses AI to generate an avatar or portrait, rather than commissioning an artist or drawing it themselves; it's extremely easy to get detailed semirealistic art which sort of resembles your original character. And what I imagine will eventually happen is that an AI avatar will be considered low-status compared to art which is evidently drawn by a human. Because a thing that anyone can instantly get for free isn't exclusive enough to stay valuable for long.

That's assuming every LLM art compiler doesn't go bankrupt and the images they generated don't become "collectibles" as a result.

i don't know in entirety, but i will say that in the spots i scroll through, having ai art on the profile often comes with the big disclaimer on the profile? but by the same token, people still roleplay with art thief types, so i suppose there's still a lot of play in the tolerances
