Visual novel presented as a corporate training tool where the story of the characters we are following seems very normal until it begins to drift off the rails, all illustrated with that kind of stock photo

You know the kind

Take the story to some severely strange places, or a murder mystery, or horror. But never ever break from the corporate training style. And commit to the bit and never wink at the audience, even in the itch description or whatever. It's a training tool. That's it.

it was a training about office safety, and it went through the protocols for various emergencies. fires, bomb threats, dangerous weather, threatening coworkers, the works. the thing is, it was framed as a day in the life, point and click adventure sort of thing. like, it started with you clicking through screens like fucking myst to enter the office for the day and go to your desk. it had tons of interstitials where you had to do normal office things like small talk with coworkers, fix a printer, or buy a snack from a vending machine. it even had a score tracker, and awarded you points for doing these things.

and again, between all that choose your own office adventure stuff, there was every possible horrible thing you could imagine happening at an office. at one point, you even left for a bit to go run an errand, only for an armed robbery to occur at the place you were visiting. and all of this took place over like 2 or 3 days in the training's fiction.

from what i heard, everyone at the company hated it, and they removed it from the curriculum.

I am delighted to know this exists and I think it can be taken so much farther. As a proof of concept that this training company developed unknowingly on my behalf - DELIGHTED.
