I need to get used to the fact that Cohost doesn't let you see follower numbers and lists for other people by design. It's a good choice to get rid of a reliance on numbers. But damn coming from Twitter where I can go down the rabbit hole of followers of followers... there's a learning curve here lol.
Another thing is that searching only brings up to a maximum of 5 pages and 5 tags to follow? Is that something with my browser/ad blocker, or is that just the site?
Yeah, it's a little frustrating.
Can't find community as easily and can't see if someone is following shitty people. But, RTs & comments will help clear that up a bit, I think.
It's annoying, but I think that the intent is good, to kinda disconnect us from the systems of social media and to reconnect us with the people who use it.
Yeah on Twitter I use the "Followed by X accounts you follow" to see if the person I want to follow is a bad egg or not. If the person is followed by people I trust, I'm more likely to follow them.
On the other hand though, the lack of follower numbers, likes on replies etc, does disincentivize clout chasers.
Right now it's just hard to find people.
Cohost is prettier than most fediverse systems, but it's missing... a lot. I want to discover more people and stuff and I have a feeling this just won't cut it in the current form.
This space is reminding me of Diaspora which had similar issues at the time I tried to use it.
Doing web dev, Cohost has a few minor issues with its templates, but... I feel like we're experiencing a decent beta that's still got time to be refined.
