The short version is an article came out about one of the most legendary metal guitarists of all time, claiming among other things that he said the "traditional guitar solo should die a slow death."
And when the article got back to Mr. Friedman, as you can see detailed here, his response to it is "hey, what the fuck?"
He suspects, and having read the original I am inclined to agree, that his remarks got fed through some sort of AI and distorted horribly. Some of the weirder parts of it definitely track to that, like the article in question saying he endorses the wrong guitar company. Why was it even run through an AI in the first place? How did it get all the way to published in a PRINT magazine?
