I still think JoD gets a bad rap and it's better than most people give it credit for, but damn, the new character designs just look awful compared to Oshima's god-tier design work
(Oshima's designs on the left, Hoshino's designs on the right) (Okay technically the NiGHTS in the top left is using the JoD outfit but it's still close enough to the original)
I remember thinking the chase stages were actually pretty good, but the filler stuff was really rough. But that's very Sega of that era.
Totally - the normal NiGHTS stages still totally hold up! The game would have been great if they stuck more closely to that instead of trying to add in a bunch of difficult-to-control mini-games >~<
