today ive witnessed on both cohost and Mastodon a case of "you can just not post / you can just log off, it's fine", truly weird how that this is a statement that gets people upset when you say it. it's very easy to just shut up when you're not qualified to weigh in on a given topic. and it's easy to just log off when you feel a website is "too much" instead of trying to police people's posting.1
(It is also weird seeing that stuff play after the fact because im on a non-US timezone for a bit lol)
