some people are claiming this part of the ceremony features drag queens making fun of christianity by mimicking the last supper by leonardo da vinci and just…. wow people are stupid

  1. this is a screenshot taken during a moving shot where the camera pans outward and moves to the right
  2. even with it being a screenshot, they still fucked it up because there still isn’t enough people on screen for it to be an homage to the last supper
  3. even if it is a homage to the last supper (i doubt it), these aren’t drag queens. they’re french celebrities dressed in high fashion designed by young french fashion designers. they’re standing next to a runway. anyone who actually watched the ceremony would know this is supposed to be a fashion show. noone in the image is even cross dressing, people just saw high fashion and thought it was drag.
  4. even if you ignore all the points above, one still remains. if this really is supposed to be the last supper, why is the assumption that they’re making fun of christianity? because they’re “gay”? get tf outta here.

in conclusion, bigots are stupid and consistently have to make shit up to justify their own hatred.

  1. even though they are not, christianity should be mocked, as should all things that hold societal power

(and imo that also includes any groups/ideologies that aspire to power and would use that to cause harm)

I already made a post mentioning this, but something that's equal parts funny and sad is that some people (not giving names) try to claim, "Why don't they make fun of Islam like this?" as if they actually care about free speech.

Except that… Jesus (as "Isa") is the second-most important figure in Islam, surprisingly having more instances of being mentioned in the Qur'an than even the prophet Mohammad himself. While Muslims don't think anyone can outright be the son/messenger of God, almost every other detail about Jesus is the same as Christianity — him being born of a virgin, him being the messiah who will return one day, and of course, the Last Supper.

Did… did these people just not know that? Really? Christ almighty, the culture war is a helluva drug, ain't it?

Yeah, I have no issue at all with criticizing Islam or its teachings, but the amount of blind disdain for it out there is tragic.

I mean, come on, there's probably a nice guy in your neighborhood who's a devout Muslim. Just have a friendly talk with him over coffee like you would anyone else. It's not hard.

Just go outside and talk to people. Lighten up.
