I finished The Left Hand of Darkness! I really loved the book, I see how some aspects of the treatment of gender (the 1969 of it all) could rub people the wrong way but I think already having a deep respect for Le Guin as an author makes that stuff easy to brush aside to see what she was actually getting at. She doesn't miss!

It's really good!! I think it says something about this book's handling of androgyny that by the end of it I almost forgot that the whole "genderless people" was a focal point of the book and not just like, a normal thing in tons of stories do lol. It was handled extremely naturally even when it was examined. It gelled so well with my experience of being nonbinary internal philosophy of gender that when I spoke to my friend about it and he referred to the "gender stuff" it took me a second to remember what he meant LOL
