"top-end GPUs get about 50% faster every 5 years. For midrange GPUs it's more like 10 years. We're releasing a new console and increasing the cost of rendering a single frame by 400%. It's the future of gameing"
Currently playing: Diablo, Factorio and Enter the Gungeon.
I am very shy.

i had to eat my words with (actually good) hdr because the difference it makes is actually crazy like when used when on an oled panel it can be life-changing
but 4k im still just like bro i cannot tell the difference i am like 5ft away from my tv at all times
this, it really sucks that this tech got tied to 4k because it’s actually gorgeous and is WAY less rendering overhead
lol yeah
I do actually like 4k for text clarity but from a technology standpoint videogames mostly just Can't Be 4k And Shouldn't Try lmao
it's absolutely ridiculous and has been for years. we're just not ready, not at reasonable power consumption, or without it just being upscaled.
Console makers be like: "We're releasing an updated console that can do 8k visuals" when they can't even do 4k natively most of the time.
“We’re making 4K consoles” my brother in christ your last console could barely do 1080p maybe get that stabilised before trying to do 4x more.
4k rendering, a technology that can only be afforded by middle-aged folks who no longer have the visual acuity to appreciate it
4K video is a scam to sell more hard drives to people who make videos (not consumers, so few people keep local copies of anything anymore it's essentially zero)
outing myself as a 4k cunt cos I do like it for exactly, only, and precisely "tv-sized (32") desk monitor that is like if I had two nice vertical monitors next two each-other)".
