there's a lot of really cool people making really, really cool stuff
and whoever is running the whole thing and organizing it has absolutlely no clue what they're doing and drags everything together into an unappetizing, miserable whole that doesn't work
it's modern big corpo stuff in a nutshell: abuse the creativity of a ton of excited people to make cool stuff, then blend it into corpo slop
it's the engine MTG runs on, it's the engine big AAA game development runs on, it's the engine every single big nerd property runs on. there's a thousand people excited to get to work on the next mtg set and they show up and whatever they do gets mixed into Slop by the people in charge. they will use your nostalgia and creativity to try and sell an ad to someone in the stupidest way possible.
