Sometimes I really like how I've gotten a bit more analytical with my approach to combat in rpgs, and attempting to optimize and micro-optimize, and sometimes I'm playing DQIX and I discover that my party, the most bog-standard party possible for the game, is also perfectly set up to oneshot most story bosses with minimal effort (Use the Minstrel to Egg On the Warrior, have them defend so as to not use up their Tension, have the Mage Sap the boss and Accelerate the party, while the Priest keeps everyone alive. once you're all set up, have everyone attack. I got the worst case scenario of the boss interrupting my combo and still did over half his health in that one hit). The postgame forces you to experiment a bit, at least, by giving all the bosses a buff nullifier, so you have to focus more on other stuff, but until then I'll always be haunted, knowing that I could just turn my brain off and do everything the easy way. So I'm gonna force myself to get weird and try out other builds, use some advanced classes that I don't normally touch, like Ranger and Armamentalist, now that I have Revocation unlocked.
