Was it wise to buy a new ds without making one last attempt to fix the one I already ahve? Maybe, but I'd need to get in deeper than I ever have with a ds, except for the two N3DSs I literally just broke by trying to reshell them, and I'm pretty sure the screws I need to take out are too worn down to quite remove. Plus, I've never had an original ds, only ever a ds lite, and if and when I do try to get my lite fixed up, I'll have two, so I can give one to a friend if or when they lack one and we wanna play a game together! Long story short, I'm finally playing ds dragon quest on a screen that doesn't blow it up just big enough to ruin the aesthetic (Like, even back in high school, looking at dq9 side by side on a ds vs 3ds, I could tell it looked better on a ds. And the sprite based ones? Its not even a question, just this alone is nearly enough of a game changer to make me want to replay DQ4, and I do in fact already have the newer romhack that puts party chat in the english version loaded on my flashcart, the one that lets you use english characters in your name and doesn't have any issues with some text boxes autoscrolling faster than you can read)
