Reading Homestuck was a lot like undergoing the initiations of a Greek mystery cult. The end result was that I was imparted with knowledge (gnosis) and this knowledge altered my perception of the world in part because of the vehicle by which it was delivered (Andrew Hussy), and in part throufg its own merit. Whether this alteration is for good or ill is irrelevant, what's important is that I underwent it and can stand among peers who share it and use that shared experience and gnosis to establish a sort of in group. I can say things like "classpect" and the uninitiated assumes I have a brain tumor, while the initiated feels a chill of terror along their spine. That's valuable in a way.
