Thinking about the whole Mozilla thing with LLMs and ethicality or whatever, I dunno, but it really underlines how we still exist in a system that requires some form of exploitation to survive financially, like Linux was a hobby OS bumbling along through the '90s as a popular alternative for nerds to be able to install web servers on without paying big bux and then IBM dumped a shitload of cash into its development and almost overnight it became this serious corporate contender and Linux as it exists today simply wouldn't exist, I wouldn't be able to chill and make art and play games on Steam without a corporation thinking it could have cake and eat it, too, by donating chump change to people who were largely working for free and showed they were willing to work for free in a culture that encouraged people to create code for purely ideological reasons, so how mad can i really get when FOSS orgs try stupid shit to raise money, it's not like capitalism has gone away
