i think part of what i hate about the mcu ultimately is its boiling down comic books in all their hideous retcon-filled massive highs and lows from writer to writer glory into this boring monoculture that makes everything the same and nothing ever just like. fucking sucks.

like yeah there's bad movies but they're bad movies that make tons of money and no one really is ever stuck having to figure out how to salvage the story in their wake after the writer that ruined everything finally leaves

my go to example in personal experience is the shift and downward spiral from the simon furman-led era of the 2005 transformers idw comic continuity to the shitfest that was shane mccarthy ruining everything with the soft reboot storyline all hail megatron, and the aftermath where mike costa and james roberts desperately tried to salvage what was left after this dreadful mess of a story and get the comic back on track and good again. shit like that never really happens with mcu's sterilized safe take on the characters its using, nothing that sucks ever leads to an uphill battle of fixing this garbage, theres no human element where you can feel that there is a team of people who are passionate about making this enjoyable.

basically i wish mcu dared to make movies as bad as the 2000s daredevil movie and make them core story-changing pieces that fail massively and ruin everything, both out of boredom with modern films and their cheap take on an interesting medium and also wanting disney to lose massive amounts of money.
