every time I'm reminded that call of duty is a major game franchise that publishers get into fights over my reaction is "they still make call of duty? ...weird"
i know, it's like... that thing so omnipresent in the industry it may as well be on the supermarket shelves.. somewhere next to the cheap store brand bread that goes stale two hours after you buy it.
It feels like it falls into the same category as sports games now. They are simply always releasing and continue to sell huge numbers but whoever is buying them doesn't really intersect with any fandom circles I at all interact with.
