i have yet to play void stranger, but i do have to say that seeing a bunch of people in my circles lose their minds over a game that's largely presented as a sokoban clone even though people have been saying "block pushing puzzles are boring and overused" for years is a great example of why you should take the average gamer's opinions on game design with the largest possible grain of salt. execution matters way more than if people broadly consider a gameplay trope bad. yes, i am saying this as someone who put a section with ice sliding puzzles in her game. and i'd do it again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
