Basing it entirely on Google Trends' graph of the term 'immutable os' since 2004, it's just been background radiation for the longest time until a sudden spike in June 2023. Of 12 searches. Same with 'immutable linux'.

The primary (basically only) regions search for it, India and the US.

This very much feels like a sudden 'tech' thing that got traction somewhere and is now flaring up, like athletes foot. I can't quite figure out why it would suddenly enter the gestalt again.

Like, the concept is fine, and people have been doing 'crystalized' or 'baked' or 'read only' OS stuff since like forever? Not sure why it might be a 'thing' again.
