There is no amount of thought-wracking I can do to comprehend being this openly angry over something so petty. Most of these hosers are gonna keep playing anyway because gamer brainrot spreads to the genitals as well.

Still, they absolutely can't shut up. They won't shut up. I know it's a performance but are they not aware of how small their target audience is?

The performative pearl-clutching exists entirely only to keep them alive in thoughtspace and in the clickbait churn. While I wouldn't want to give such people carte blanche to work unseen, I do feel that complete de-platforming and ostracization is the only way to combat what is basically a cognitohazard looking for like-minded fertile soil. Halting the spread and containing it behind firewalls is the best course imo.

It's a difficult balance in my mind. There are defo some people who are just rotten to the core and it'd take years if ever to try and pull their heads out of their own asses.

How many are truly lost causes, tho? Been reading a book on QAnon and people recovering from that cult, and for the ones who are kinda floating and questioning whether it's worth it or not, carefully pulling them out of that conspiracy hugbox rather than total ostracizing is essential to recovery.

Then again, none of us are obligated to be therapists, especially if it puts us at risk. No easy answers, and I cannot deny there are some acts of catharsis that would be incredibly satisfying to indulge in...

I've always approached it more like a lifeguard rather than a therapist. Of course one wants to save someone who is drowning, especially if they are visibly signalling distress. But if they are going to drag you down with them, the first person to save must always be yourself. A lifeguard has to know when they can save someone, and when to let go. Unfortunately there's no way to know until you're right there with them.

And there are simply too many people in the ocean.
