It doesn't take a lot of reading between the lines to know that the world Marc Andreessen wants us to live in is one of grinding slavery and corporate-sponsored fatalities (he literally lists Trust and Safety as an enemy of techno-optimism). Rising waters lifting all the boats is the new "trickle-down" lie to try and sucker us into continuing the abusive relationship.
Techno-optimism should be seen for what it is: fascism dressed up as a hopeful, bright-eyed future that we could achieve if only we finally dealt with all those nasty little communists and socialists and anyone else who thinks safety regulations are an essential idea. Marc's near-utopian vision of a free market future already has a long-standing body count, and every Cali-techbro is more than happy to unleash the true potential of surveillance capitalism if the price is right (and it always is).
The good news is manifestos like these don't spring into being for nothing. The world is pissed, and people like Marc are feeling the winds shift. Unfortunately for them, Marc and others like him are dodging any kind of introspection whatsoever, which will make their confused, hurt expressions all the more funny when the freedom razors finally start dropping.
