over the past year i've seen like, three or four video essays pop up on why arena shooters died, and how it's all sad and stuff but that those were good times, good memories for those that lived through tripping breakers at LAN parties

of course, if you know where to look, you can still get frags in. most every retro shooter at this point has a tiny but tenacious multiplayer community still fragging in familiar haunts

but i like to think that stuff hasn't exactly died. it's taken on a new life in stuff like this weird video i stumbled across on youtube. it's got that gen-z vibe of having totally missed the boat but we'll make a meme anyway.

it's not like this fills servers, but it's fascinating seeing this kind of deconstruction of a major part of my life's enjoyment. i ain't even mad. this shit is cute as hell
