Seeing reports of some new thing with multi threading that claims it could double the speed of every extant computer on the planet without changing hardware and it's just more multi threading? I don't get it. Like wasn't that obvious? Haven't we been staring at the problem of dark silicon for a while now?

If I understand what I'm reading right, it splits task load between the CPU and GPU (and TPU if your system has one), and that's somehow more efficient than what we already have? I thought a lot of modern systems were already leveraging the GPU, so there's probably something here I don't understand.
