Thinking back on it all, we witnessed a decades-long trajectory of functionality previously found in multiple apps being concentrated into one app. This is interpreted as โprogressโ, which is certainly convenient for the company able to bring everyone under one umbrella.
The UNIX philosophy involves lots of small tools that do their jobs well. I often wonder if what it will take is simply saying, "no," and going back to those separate apps that give us so much more control, even if it's more inconvenient.
