The Internet tells me that, if you have a carpenter bee lingering in one area, it's most likely a male staking a territorial claim while waiting for females to mate with. My wife and I have therefore named this guy Casanova.
He has been a regular visitor to our back porch for the last week or so. At this rate, he'll be here a while. But we love him anyway.
