lol how does anyone afford selling at artist alleys. i can not believe that the reception to the artist alley is terrible, and they want to charge me $80 each day to have access to it -- not to mention that the table is already over $200 and i still have to pay insurance. i feel like quitting already. how is this viable for anyone?

how do people do multiple conventions? and on top of that, they don't give us lunch breaks? someone has to do something about this. like, this is not viable to artists.

Nope! Not at all, and my only solution was cult of personality online, so when I do touch mortal ground I can cultivate some noise already

It's to me a large reason why everyone went to patreon with physical stuff monthly so hard years ago, more or less cutting out the major risks of conventions and tables

That is also to say: you not being "successful" in the capitalistic sense in convention rings doesn't mean anything much about yourself

It's a very particularly plate to spin correctly, you have to play it's game and that game is social science as hell, so whatever works in the moment is what "works", and often not twice

Often even when not "competiting" for eyeballs with fanarts at cons it's like trying to catch a buttered up eel, and the solution is commonly something completely different

That's probably true. I guess the reason why I wanted to try again is that I do like the physical chance to design a fun bright store front. I've actually never done well at conventions, but because I always split up the cost, maybe it didn't seem much to me? And there always wasn't this need to have Square Payments (which is the reason why I have to pay to have the internet service, uhg).

The huge hurdle for me, always always always, is that I am not interested in churning a lot of fan art unless I feel extremely passionate about the project; I am much more passionate about my own stories.

Anyways, I don't know how you gather a group of artists and make an union for artist alley folks, but if I did, I would. We deserve breaks and actual food.
