sudden 4am realization that one particular thing that makes BG3 tick for me as opposed to Dragon Age (and Mass Effect on the side) is that i am included in the game without any kind of ifs or buts. i'm a (trans) lesbian and it's just... normal.
no weirdo "but we're both girls!" line, no being railroaded to one (1) single companion romance (who will only be present as DLC in the next game in the case of ME), no "oh this entire species conveniently is just blue human women with weird hair so it's not REALLY gay and we can still force feed you the traditional family ideal" copout.
i think the first Bioware game to not pull any of that shit was DA Inquisition (and MAYBE in a limited fashion DA2 cause i don't remember that at least for Isabela and Merrill). and like sure there were other RPGs between DAO and BG3 but i think in that particular flavour the only others were from Spiders which, er, on this particular topic aside from Greedfall, no comments lol.
mind you i still dearly love both DA and ME and have played them each more times than i remember and likely will play them again. but. Liara babygirl this is the year of our Reaper lords 2183, why are you bringing up 2008 human homophobia into this.
