I think what I miss the most with forums and forum culture is when it was normal for multiple small communities to form around a thing, instead of centralizing everything into one big place and then giving it social media features
Modern forums suck ass because the rest of the internet sucks ass
also back before the centralization of forums into socmed as we know it, the norm wasn't that you'd get notified for every little thing; even less outside of said forum. once you closed your internet browser that was it, and it wasn't expected that discussions be held in real or near-real time either
lol funny you should mention forumactif cause i still got one that i keep open (but privated) as an archive of sorts, the last proper post on it was around 2013 :D
yes oh my gosh that's a good point, all the fucking notifications... i despite that bell icon now. (genuinely happy cohost turns them off by default, too, appreciate so much that this site cares)
now I kinda regret closing the forums I used to run... even if they were cringy RP forums I still made memories there lmao
