just got mansplained how custom liveries work in Assetto Corsa Competizione. i published the very first template pack, wrote the only tutorial detailing how to extract the models + wireframes from the game and make them paintable and i am the only one to have reproduced certain paint effects despite the two textures limitations.

i deeply hate that this happens but i think i actually hate even more how instinctual it is to just. go along with it.
i don't assert my experience and knowledge and instead reflexively play dumb waiting for the dude to find out on his own that he's wrong; after which he usually goes "well it used to work" (it never did) because god forbid he ever admits to being wrong. because this way is far less dangerous, especially IRL. blegh
