in reply to @tsiro's post:

even more sick: i use it as esc on tap and a QMK layer toggle on hold!

genuine question though: why not? i literally do not know a downside to this lol

the only software i know of that actually accepts holding escape as a keybind is Desktop Goose and why would you want to exit Desktop Goose

i do not even know what QMK layer means!! but i love this for you

my personal "why not" is: i tried it for a few days and found that the cognitive effort it took to use it was greater than any workflow benefit! and/or maybe i didn't dial the trigger time/conditions for turning it into control correctly. but i do love that it's a thing you can do at all and was certainly excited to try it!!

oh yeah i remember now: i think it was adding a slight delay to esc that was driving me a little insane. because the computer could only process esc on key up rather than key down. this doesn't sound real but i am so sure it was real for me

Turned off entirely because I kept hitting it by accident in games, same as the windows key

It occurs to me I could put ctrl there and see if that's less awkward to reach than the actual ctrl, but idk, my current setup lets me hold it so easily by moving the heel of my hand a little that I do it on accident sometimes
