It is horrifying. But its been horrifying for 8 years, many of us have acclimatedor desensitized to the horror. The reason this honest to gods real talking point he is trying to actually make is funny is because its so horrifyingly insane that that many of his less sycophantic base (normal conservatives who just dont vet their news well enough) are turned off by how insane and floundering he is even to the point where voting bases from well known republican figures are moving in to back Kamala.
Obviously we should not be ignoring how immigrants feel about this, but this is the reason these jokes are made, not to excuse any of it.
Yeah I get that, it's hard not to laugh at the absurdity of it but like idk just saying it everywhere feels like people don't realize how grim this is, but alas dark jokes are gonna exist and I'm not trying to police anyone, I'm more just venting
