Do you ever wonder how absolutely nuts it is that you are where you are in life?

Like, no matter how bad you got it, there are things in your life where you can go "holy shit this really good thing was such a longshot to happen but it happened."

each of my girlfriends is a hell of a longshot, for example.

@kadybat and I were mutuals on Twitter ages ago, and we talked once in DM's about work. it was a very, very short conversation. like, i talked about not enjoying working at Staples. that was... pretty much it. but years later i see The Owl House as a trending hashtag, and i go "hey wait a second what's this Owl House thing, i like owls, i feel excluded" and she replied like OH MY GOD YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT? YOU NEED TO! and i was like "oh i dunno how though, probably don't have the streaming service to watch it on demand and i probably don't have the channel to watch it on TV either" and she gave me a link. and so we'd talk about Owl House. and eventually we made kissy faces at each other. It was so unlikely that she even saw my tweet, but she saw it and we made that connection.

@traumagotchi and I met in a trans sim racing Discord server. I can't even remember how I found out about the server, i think somebody retweeted a post about it on Twitter and I was like "oh boy other trans sim racing enthusiasts!" but eventually we would race on track together as part of that server's team in a women-only league. and on the final round at Spa, we had an absolutely phenomenal battle for first place in-class. it won, i came second, and it was the first time in my sim racing 'career' that i was happy finishing only a second behind first place. given its incredible ability to drive a racecar with an aggressive but fair form of defensive driving, i was smitten. the thing is, that battle never would have happened if the cars ahead of us on lap one hadn't caused an accident through Eau Rouge and Radillon, causing me to slow down for it while gotchi was far enough away to know it could keep the throttle pinned and keep its speed up on the straight - enough to get by me, and start my favorite sim racing battle i've ever had.

@kaceydotme and I met in that same server because a mutual friend had met kacey on Twitter, and they met on Twitter because our mutual friend was a kacey replygirl. kacey popped into a VC i was in, we were pretty friendly with each other pretty quickly. later on, someone else in the server started getting ableist at me - and i was already on the outs with that server anyway because of the admins' passivity towards bullying and discrimination. this ableism situation got me so heated i ended up leaving the server, and i asked kacey if she happened to have a server i could join so i could have a community to be in. she invited me to her friends only server, we hung out a lot together, and eventually we started being kissy-faced at each other.

but wait, it gets even crazier.

eventually i invited gotchi to kacey's server (with kacey's permission) because gotchi had left the sim racing server i had left, and i didn't want it to be left without community. eventually, gotchi got to meet kacey's other partners and got kissy-faced at one of them because they played destiny 2 a lot together. and now gotchi lives with kacey, a couple of kacey's partners and gotchi's partner. and i couldn't be happier about not only the fact that gotchi has a safe place to live, but that it also lives happily with its partner.

and this isn't even the full story. there is a lot of background events i can't remember - that most people wouldn't remember - that directly and indirectly put me on the path of meeting these beautiful people. there's also some stuff i probably shouldn't mention just for privacy reasons but trust me, the sheer unlikeliness of the lives we all get to experience together is incredible.

i'm only 30 and i already feel like i've lived such a long life, it's ridiculous!

think about this for yourself. if you think your life is boring or lame, think about a good thing that happened to you and just how much had to happen for that thing to happen to you. i hope that your takeaway from that is the same as mine: that we are incredibly lucky to be alive, and to know the people we love, and to be in each other's presence during such an incredibly short time on Earth. the amount of luck it takes to know the people we do, and to love the people we love, and to experience the world together is in-fucking-calculable.

life is fucking magical. genuinely.

i met my wife @oneroseymia completely randomly in 2020 when a mutual friend and i decided to participate in a 12 hours endurance race on Assetto Corsa Competizione. we needed a third driver and she said she knew someone who might be down for it, and a few hours later we were opening a group DM to properly organize together. and chat, i tell you, i was fuckin smitten. first time in my life i had fallen in love and it was with a literal angel.
a few weeks after this race Mia would become the first woman to win in her class in a SRO Esports race, which, coincidentally is the day i proposed. several weeks after that, she became the first woman to win overall in a SRO Esports race.
early 2021; this happened. what is not pictured on the broadcast, however, is the quite frankly ridiculous amount of flirting there was between each other on voice chat trying to fluster the other into a mistake, which i eventually managed to do >:3

my other partners, Ruby and Kainé, were friends with Mia before i met her. i think the only contact i had with Ruby before eventually meeting her through Mia was, funnily enough, her commenting on one of my pictures of Project Cars 2 on Steam. we spent enough time together and uh, yeah i guess i'm poly, turns out.

my fourth partner, Hayley, found me through this picture i had posted on ye olde twitter. after which she peeped my streams, jumped in my team's discord server; and like a month or two after confessed to me. turns out you never know what might happen from posting the dumbest thirst traps ever lmao

my pal @revenger210 is responsible for Chloe @comradekiwi and i meeting through his Defiler series. we took a liking to the giant lesbians in his book and started bonding over them. and then we started dating and uh now we're partners. she thinks she's much taller than me and can fluster me with her height, but it's just by 3cm >:)
read Defiler btw
