Three color risograph print: yellow, flourescent pink, and green.
The digital illustration before Riso-ification.
. . .
Me: I'm gonna draw Trigun Maximum flavored Vashwood that punches me in the heart everytime I look at it.
Also me: Yeah this very detailed, multi-paneled, sequential-esque illustration is a great idea for my first time riso-printing hands on (as opposed to ordering it from a specialized printer).
The lesson here though, is to embrace your creative insanity. I dove straight into the deep end because I felt that I would learn the most from challenging myself with a very detailed design. It took a TON of trial and error, and I even ended up bleeding a little over it, but the experience I gained was invaluable. I learned so much in the process of doing this myself, and I'm pretty damn happy with the results! After things settle down a bit, I think I might do a more thorough write up of my process and troubleshooting.
I'll be selling these prints at Small Press Expo and Miryokucon in Baltimore in September. Then I'll open up a shop online for remaining stock before the Holidays.
