  1. post something that makes you happy
  2. keep going

that's it, really

you don't have to be some superpowered nerd, and sure enough there is an audience for that here, but you just gotta be earnest about your own little hobbies, even the ones you're sure no-one else pays attention to—especially those ones

people don't come to cohost to learn things, they come to hang out with other weird nerds talking about whatever weird nerd shit they're into

i mean, for me, that's often computer shit, sometimes it's photography, and other times it might be me drunkenly posting about the influence of the bossa nova disc in the optigan synthesizer, the incredible signage design of margaret calvert, or the way in which jan tschihold renounced his modernist stances in light of the rise of fascism

but mostly i go "YOU CAN USE POTATO WATER TO DEVELOP FILMS. NATURES MAGICAL TUBERS"

in reply to @tef's post:

Potato developer Cook 6-7 medium sized potatoes in 1 litre of water. Potatoes can be used latter in the dinner. Add 7tsp of washing soda to the cooled water. Time of development: 30min at temperature 20°C/ 68°F. To speed up the process add 2 tsp of Vitamin C. In that case time of development is 10-12min at temperature 20°C/ 68°F

although i'm told mincing the peels will work better than just potatoes
