and while I'm less fluent outside American politics, it seems like most of the Anglosphere (at least) has been following that lead for a couple of decades
people being stupid is a systemic failure and yet we must acknowledge that a lot of people are really fucking stupid these days. For systemic reasons that aren't their fault. But also like. Fuck damn they can't even read a sign that says "closed"
yeah. but also how it makes em easier to control, and schools being made to fail them through underfunding and charters means the family and clergy can fill in the blanks if they don't go to a fancy private school or the right (read: wealthy) public one
yeah like a lot of people in power do not want people en masse to be less stupid.
