wenchcoat system:
๐ฏ Akhra (or Melli to disambiguate), ratel.
๐ฒ Rhiannon, drangolin.
๐ฆก Lenestre, American badger.
unless tagged or otherwise obvious, assume ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฆก in chorus; even when that's not quite accurate, we will always be in consensus. address collectively as Akhra (she/her), or as wenchcoat (she/her or plural).

ugh. i know this is just another drop in the bucket in what your notifications feed has no doubt become, but i feel for ya. hope you can make it work wherever you wind up. been thinking about seriously setting up a mastodon account myself, in no small part because this just keeps happening
I hope you don't leave -- you were one of the first people I found on cohost and I love seeing what you make -- but I get it if it becomes too much. If you do, let us know where we can find you
I'm sorry people here have been so idiotic about all this. I really enjoy all the indie games stuff you post about, so while I'd rather this space become better and not push you out, I'll definitely follow your work elsewhere if you decided to leave.
It's really disappointing that things have been playing out like this for you and other people speaking out about this stuff. I expected better from the site, though maybe that was a little naive...
Sorry this is happening to you. I can't say I'm super surprised people are acting like this. This website sometimes feels like an experiment on what would happen if you took all the white leftists off of twitter who think using a website = activism and put them in one place lmao.
GOD the absolute audacity to label it "being a cop" when one of the primary things cops are known for is being fucking racist. i'm sorry people are being like this at you
this site needs a lot more moderation because nonwhite people are getting treated so poorly here :[
definitely. this is an area i want to look at more.
on one hand, a lot of this stuff isn't reported to us. we just don't end up seeing it because no one tells us about it. some of the recent discussion today seems to have originated from a user's post, but no one reported it before it was seemingly deleted, so i don't have great insight into what's going on.
(thankfully, some awful comments were reported and we were able to show these people the door)
on the other hand... when someone expresses their frustration with cohost as a site due to racist users and annoying devils advocates and dogwhistle nazis and sealioning assholes, how can we turn around and just say, "well, did you report them?" as any actual kind of actual solution? this is a classic issue in social media, and one we're not equipped to solve tomorrow. when someone decides to harass any marginalized person, the burden somehow falls on their shoulders to do essentially all the work. its entirely untenable.
i do encourage reporting if you can. it helps us a lot. we don't want assholes on the website. but it's clear that we can't foster a community entirely on the shoulders of the volunteer labor of people who are actively experiencing harassment.
of course. I really appreciate the response, it's really valued from you
holy shit I went back to your earlier posts and it's fucked that you can't share your perspective on this without it being turned into some kind of cancel culture thing, or that you can't feel how you feel unless you have a smoking gun and backed up by a perfect, comprehensive argument. I was really glad when I saw your initial posts about this. I am sorry this is happening.
