Supergiant is a really chill place where I'm feel listened to as an employee and one where the pace seems truly sustainable. The day to day is a lot less exciting than the documentary -- for something like 90% of Hades it's the slow and quiet of putting the game together piece by piece.
THIS IS NOT THE STANDARD AT GAME DEVELOPMENT JOBS
It is impossible to say this without saying that I've been tremendously lucky. Game development is a profession that is rife with studios mistreating or exploiting their employees out of their love of the space. Just because I haven't had to deal with crunch, bug quotas, sexism, or office politics doesn't mean that other studios might not have these woven into their structural fabric! It's impossible to always avoid, but it's worth attempting to take the temperature of any place you want to work (good generic advice, even outside of games :V)
