Anonymous User asked:

your icon is really cool! do you know if part of it was a photo, and if so of what? it looks almost typewriter-ish...

Anon, I gotta say, asking whether or not I know what my icon is, is a conceptually fascinating framing for me. But yes, I know what its components are‪, haha—and thanks, I made it myself :)

My icon is part of a larger piece that I made for a social media hero. I don't want to use it for that here bc it would feel redundant with the icon.
A distorted neon typewriter keyboard that says 'Innes Walker' on the keys

I've always found it difficult to categorize the artwork I make, because while a lot of it is technically photomanipulation, it's not what people mean when they say that, I feel. But this is a digital artwork that was made of several component images, some of which are drawings in the public domain and some of which are photographs under similarly permissive licenses—including, yes, this image of a typewriter by Markus Winkler!

A vintage white typewriter with a QWERTZ keyboard

I was originally going to leave the keyboard as-is, with all the original text on the keys, but then I realized it was in German, and that's not true to a keyboard I would use, so it seemed like an odd detail to include in something that is supposed to be a representation of my profile. So I thought, the home row has 11 visible keys, and one version of my name has 11 letters, so why not use that instead?

Thank you for the question!
