One of the difficult parts of having a disability that contains experiences that the general public has, but to a degree that the general public will typically not experience, is that you can try to say something about your experience like "hey, this thing happens to me and it's really inconvenient" and people will take it in a different direction than you actually meant it because they think you're talking about their experience too

Like if I say "yeah, I've been having difficulty with hyperfocusing recently." People will be like "oh ha ha I get that but you know, hey, at least you were doing something you liked" and they don't understand that it's not the same as being excited

I can hyperfocus about something that I absolutely do not want to be spending that much time on, something that does not give me really any pleasure at all, because working through my own thoughts took up enough cognitive processing power that putting together what I wanted to say and Getting It Right, even though it was only 10 minutes worth of thought at best, took well over two hours

This is not the same as spending 10 hours writing a fanfic. At least at the end of that you have a fanfic!
