The empathetic reason that all religious major holidays should be worthy of holiday pay and/or leave (preferably both!!!) is that it shouldn't be put upon a minority community to advocate for their Biggest Day Of The Year to be treated as valuable, and perhaps deducted from a limited pool of standard time off, while the majority community is treated that way by default and gets it for free
But the selfish reason is, I don't celebrate Easter but I get paid double for working on it because it's a holiday to someone. If Rosh Hashanah and Eid and the lunar New Year were also treated as holidays I could make more money
(An empathetic side effect is that anyone who actually had plans that day would not be pressured into working it because other workers would have greater incentive!)
