Cohost's tiny file size restriction on profile pictures has led to an amusing phenomenon: I'm noticing people going back and using old profile pics that they haven't used for years.
Because most sites nowadays just let you upload whatever and then provide you with a crop tool, people will just upload big stuff and crop a face (or whatever) from it as their profile pic. Even when they have files that were meant to be profile pics (for instance, like the ones I create for my Patreon supporters), most of those are too big to fit within the site's size restrictions.
What makes that funny is the fact that they're now having to turn back to the "old reliables" that they got for their Furaffinity profiles (since Furaffinity has a similarly miniscule PFP size allowance), many of which haven't been dusted off for years. I dunno, I just find that amusing in a fun sort of way.
Side note: None of this is meant to be a complaint about the small file size allowance; it's a small site that is still growing and not relying on what sites normally rely on to grow, and server space/bandwidth doesn't come cheap. To me, a small upload limit (I'm considering pitching in for the premier sub) is a very small price to pay for a site that isn't beholden to invasive advertising.
