i feel like this little guy is very much a creature of cohost. I actually sent an anon ask to @idadeerz waayy back to see if she had any opinions on how i should start with it! and her own "journey" post was pretty inspiring so now i wanna make my own

I'm not sure it's an amazing tool for creating new and interesting music, but it is a very fun toy, which was my original intent. For most purposes of creative expression, using a DAW on your computer will always be faster, easier, and more repeatable, but working with hardware, and especially analog hardware is a kind of self-imposed challenge that is personally rewarding to me. I especially like using things in unintended ways, and analog circuitry is rife with those kinds of possibilities.

With the exception of the case ($600 combined iirc) and the moog mavis ($300) everything in this case cost less than $200 individually, which is kind of my cutoff point. added up, it's very expensive!!! but individually i can treat each module as a cheap little project and accumulate functionality over time.

ok so, like a lot of people I'm not really loving my options for cohost replacements. this one was the cool one ;_;

but! for me specifically, quitting cold turkey feels like a really bad idea. I don't think i was always the best at this, but I tried to make a point about interacting! from big stuff like direct dms to smaller things like comments and likes, I was here to get social practice in, if that makes sense. So, like it or not, I need a replacement. and an irl replacement is still out of reach for me, atm.

ok so in the grand scheme of things this isn't that special but it's an idea that afaict doesn't exist on the internet yet so i'm just a bit excited to see how it will actually work out.

For the past year or so I've made it a goal to myself to more to gofundmes and such. If you have the means for it, this turns out to not really require all that much out of you, so! I'm just going to describe how I've been doing it as a little blueprint, and as an encouragement before I get all negative.
