We hadn't seen each other in a while so it was great to catch up! There was a flood watch so we had to be really careful of the weather but we got out well before there was any actual risk.
Definitely one of the more intense hikes I've been on, but really really scenic. Dry and cool forest on one mesa, dry warm burn scar on the other, and lush and humid in the canyon by the creek down there. Very awesome geology, great views from some of the high spots when when we stopped to rest.
Thing about hiking here is while you're moving you're generally really focused on the trail (especially if it's steep or narrow or gravelly) and so you can't really spare the attention to enjoy the scenery until you stop.
I had a lot of fun tho. Very worthwhile use of my day. Even worth skipping lunch for.
