choose (source code) is a utility for picking randomly from a list of things
i personally find it handy and as of today it has a man page and everything and it’s stable so i might as well do a 1.0 release of it
Q: why?
A: because i semi-regularly need to pick random things, and maybe you do too idk
features include:
- picking randomly from a list of arguments
- pick one item
- pick zero items
- pick all the items!
- literally pick any non-negative number of items
- picking lines from files
- and also standard input
- pretty colors in the error messages (optional)
- should usually do the obvious thing without breaking. if it doesn’t, please complain
