It is nasty! It will kill you and you will not realize what is happening! If you and everyone else in an enclosed space start getting sick, especially if it improves when you get fresh air, that’s a big red flag.

You should have a carbon monoxide detector in your home. If you do not have one, please get one.

It’s especially important to be aware of this as the winter months loom here in the northern hemisphere. CO poisoning rates increase a LOT in the winter for what I hope are fairly intuitive reasons. So yeah, be aware of the warning signs, get a carbon monoxide detector, and tell your friends and family because this shit can and does kill.

Also make sure to check your smoke alarm batteries if you haven’t done that in the last six months.
